The client appointed Design In A Box to transform the empty shell of her new medical practice. Due to the nature of the business and location, she wanted to move away from the typical run-of-the-mill doctor’s rooms style and create a calm and relaxed, yet luxurious, atmosphere. The stark steel staircase was cladded in vertical timber slats to not only create a bold, yet warm architectural feature, but it added valuable concealed storage. Floor to ceiling timber slats were used in the staff kitchenette to create a semi-private nook for tea & lunch breaks. A muted colour palette was used, together with soft curved lines in the furniture & joinery, to further contribute to the calming atmosphere.
